Decoding NSCLC: Cyclic Staining as a Key to Understanding Tumor Heterogeneity
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide. The unique tumor microenvironment (TME), a complex ecosystem of cancer and non-cancerous cells, plays a crucial role in tumor progression and treatment response. The ineffectiveness of current lung cancer treatments necessitates a better understanding of TME heterogeneity. This study focuses on the two main subtypes of non-small cell lung cancer, lung adenocarcinoma and lung squamous cell carcinoma. Utilizing a cyclic staining technique, this study aims to visualize the heterogeneity of the TME by using multiplex immunofluorescent staining in combination with hematoxylin and eosin staining. Due to the limited availability of human samples, mouse models are utilized to investigate lung tumor development.
