UCLL on the road to 2030
5 strategic priorities to guide us
We are UCLL, the moving minds.
We are moved by and engaged with the world around us, near and far. We adapt and move alongside our communities and commit to a sustainable, just future. We move each other and empower others to create impact together as innovative professionals.
Guided by this mission, we are building an inclusive, sustainable, and equitable university of applied sciences that fosters growth for everyone, and strengthens connections within our community and beyond.
We have already come a long way...
We have made significant strides toward our mission and vision. Between 2019 and 2024, we laid strong foundations to maximize students’ #successes. Through innovative, practice-oriented research and future-proof training, we have contributed to a significant #boost in our region. Our focus on global #citizenship has strengthened society’s commitment to sustainability and international collaboration. We have created #inspiring learning, working, and living environments where staff and students can truly grow and thrive. Our track record has been recognized by the NVAO's institutional review in June 2024.
And now, we are moving forward
with even greater ambition!
Armed with feedback and input gathered from students, staff, and partners during consultation sessions, reflection days, captain’s tables, programme committees and student councils since March 2023, we’re ready to take our ambitions further. Together, we can make the dreams of students, staff and partners come true.
Through project-based, participative initiatives, we aim to build on the expertise and good practices already present within UCLL. We will continually adapt, using clear progress markers to evaluate and refine our work as we move forward.

CONNECTORS
On the road to… the most enriching learning, working, and living environment, where connection and growth are at the center.
By 2030, we will continue to build an environment where students and staff experience genuine belonging - not just superficial, but from the heart. Across our 8 campuses, everyone should feel welcomed and respected. We encourage students to learn from and with each other in educational activities across programmes and regions. Through transdisciplinary learning, we will all discover new perspectives and growth opportunities. Our aim is to cultivate a culture of openness and respect, where feedback is constructive and focused on growth. #connectors
The road to 2030:
- By 2028, more than half of UCLL students will participate in transdisciplinary learning activities.
- By 2028, constructive feedback will be a cornerstone of UCLL’s culture, with all feedback focused on personal growth and supportive reflection.
- By 2030, staff and students will together shape learning, working and living environments where everyone feels a true sense of belonging and connection. These will serve as a model for other institutions.

ENABLERS
On the road to... optimal opportunities and a tailored educational experience for every learner.
By 2030, every learner will find optimal opportunities within UCLL and its network. We are joining forces with other organizations to create a robust learning network together. This way, we can offer everyone the very best learning opportunities. We are actively looking for new target groups. Because everyone is different and has their own unique needs when it comes to learning, we will continue to provide optimal guidance for each learner from start to finish, and where possible, we will strengthen our support. We will guarantee every individual, regardless of their background, maximum opportunities to reach their full potential and experience high well-being, now and in the future. #enablers
The road to 2030:
- By 2026, all learners and staff will know their role in the guidance continuum and will be able to act accordingly.
- By 2030, UCLL will have expanded its own programmes and its network in order to offer a targeted response to the learning needs of existing and specific new target groups.

On the road to... powerful partnerships to address societal challenges.
By 2030, UCLL aims to be the preferred partner for those seeking solutions to social challenges. Through strategic partnerships with businesses, organizations, and governments, we’re setting up projects and actions that drive meaningful, sustainable change. We work in equal co-creation with our programmes, centres of expertise and those partners. Our students are fully engaged in these efforts, contributing to projects that inspire impactful transformations within society. #bridgebuilders
The road to 2030:
- By 2026, societal challenges will drive structural and practical collaboration between study programmes and centers of expertise.
- By 2026, the strategic partnerships around chosen core themes will be demonstrably known within and outside the organization.
- By 2028, UCLL’s partnerships and projects will bring about demonstrable sustainable changes in the thinking and actions of the stakeholders involved with the projects and actions.

INNOVENTURERS
On the road to... transformative interactions between research and education.
By 2030, educational research will be the source of inspiration for every UCLL team to shape and enhance its own teaching practice. It is our ambition to use even more scientific insights from research to design our education. In every team and in every programme, we will integrate research and education and make adjustments experimentally. As such, we raise the quality of our education and the support we offer to an even higher level. UCLL aspires to be a leader in applying innovative educational practices, setting an example for other institutions locally and internationally. #innoventurers
The road to 2030:
- By 2028, all programmes will have demonstrably applied relevant educational research into their educational practice.
- By 2030, research-based design of educational practice will become a fundamental part of the quality culture of our programmes.

CHANGEMAKERS
On the road to... a world where we actively shape the future.
By 2030, every Moving Mind will make a positive contribution to inclusion, sustainability and justice. We strive for everyone – regardless of programme, service or centre of expertise – to gain the key competences to actively contribute to inclusion, sustainability and equity within their own field. This journey requires UCLL as a whole to embody the values of inclusivity, sustainability, and equity. #changemakers
The road to 2030:
- By 2030, students and staff will collaboratively create an inclusive, sustainable and equitable learning, working and living environment on all campuses, based on a shared conceptual framework.
- By 2030, every UCLL graduate will have acquired the key competences to contribute meaningfully to inclusion, sustainability and justice in their profession.
